easyJet Graduates spend two or so years fully involved in the business taking up a position in one of the following areas - Operations, Finance, Project Management Office, IT, Commercial, Marketing or HR. To find out more about our business areas click here. Being in control and accepting the challenge of managing their own growth, they go through a fast learning and development programme in a growing business, learning from industry leading people and being exposed to business critical projects.

We are committed to developing our graduates and will provide all the tools needed for our graduates’ careers to take off. With a robust induction programme to settle them in and a dedicated mentor to support with business and career advice, the foundations are there for each Graduate to build a strong network across the organisation. During the initial 2 years, each Graduate will work on a series of assignments where learning objectives are agreed up front with the assignment manager in line with the overall direction of the programme. Both progress and performance are discussed at the end of each assignment, with plans put in place to support further development and growth.

The programme will have a strong European focus with the opportunity to work with people from many different nationalities, be based in the main office in the London area with the opportunity to visit and potentially be based in other network locations such as France, Italy, Germany, Portugal or Switzerland.

We are looking for recent graduates, or those about to graduate, with an excellent academic record who are willing to relocate and have a genuine interest in the airline industry and a passion for the opportunity to work at easyJet.

It is a privilege to know that the managers trust my judgement and seek me out for my advice.

Having studied Biomedical Science at Manchester University and realising that labcoat life was not for me, I began to research graduate programmes. I believe these offer greater opportunities, responsibility and fast track development as well as the chance to start a new company with a group of similar minded individuals. easyJet’s graduate programme lives up to this and also offers the ability to work in a successful, fast-paced, European company with a renowned brand...

I joined the HR stream in 2011 with very little understanding of what HR was and started my career in the HR Service Centre. This involved managing new entrant contracts, administering the employee’s life cycle for Cabin Crew e.g. promotion, transfer, maternity, part time, resignation letters etc. and streamlining and mapping processes. I have since moved into the HR Business Partner team as an HR Advisor for Cabin Services and now spend a large part of my day coaching managers in their case management including areas of disciplinary, grievance and flexible working requests. I also work on a variety of projects including introducing a Long Service Award, refreshing the way we communicate about benefits and communicating legislation changes to flexible working requests.

Working with easyJet obviously has its perks such as staff travel for you and your friends; however, it is the development that I have had which I have most enjoyed. Over the last 2 years, I have gone from a minimal understanding of what HR entails to advising managers about who I think they should recruit and whether dismissal is the best course of action. It is a privilege to know that the managers trust my judgement and seek me out for my advice.

If you are looking for an easy life, easyJet is not the right place for you. We work in a low cost environment which affects everything we do; our deadlines are tight, our targets are stretching and we work hard to achieve the great results we have published. Being a European company means we constantly need to think about how things will be received in each country as the law, customs and practices are different and we have to consider the effect on Cabin Crew, Pilots and Management. Having said this, everyone wants to see the company achieve and we all work together to deliver easyJet’s strategy of making travel easy and affordable.

I go home knowing that I have contributed to the success of the company!

I joined easyJet in 2011 as part of the European Graduate Programme. Coming out of university I had little knowledge about what I wanted to be as a “grown up”, but I knew I wanted to work for a fast paced and successful company that could provide me with tremendous development opportunities and the chance to shape my own career. I felt that becoming part of an international graduate program was the best way to make the transition from academia to work, and I was fascinated by easyJet’s passion for connecting people across Europe. So here I am!

So far I have had a great time in the company and the programme has met and exceeded my expectations. Rotating placements every six to nine months has allowed and encouraged me to explore and learn about different areas of the business, meaning that I have had visibility of many initiatives and been involved in a number of projects. This has provided me with a better understanding of how different teams work and of how we all work together to deliver a great product to our customers.

During my time at easyJet, I have had the chance to work in some of the most exciting areas of the business. I started in the Business Team, where I have taken part in the strategic development of the product proposition for business travellers and I have supported the Sales team across Europe on a variety of projects.

After that I have moved to In-flight Retail where I have worked on the renewal of our catering supplier contract which enabled me to learn about the end to end process from choosing a product and loading it onto the aircraft, to serving it to our customers. I also tasted a fair amount of snacks and tried many of the products we now sell on board! Now I am part of the Digital Marketing Team, where I am working on Search Engine optimisation and I make changes to easyJet.com to ensure the content on our website is relevant to our customers and represents our brand consistently. It’s quite cool!

Being a grad here does not mean taking a back seat: there are always plenty of things to do and the time is never enough!

The atmosphere at easyJet is unique! Iit can be quite hectic and demanding, but at the same time friendly and supportive. What makes this company great are the fantastic people working here as we all share the same passion for the company and its strategic objectives.

I really enjoy working here because every morning when I come to the office I know my day is going to be different from the previous one and at the end of the day I go home knowing that I have contributed to the success of the company!

There is an element of throwing you in at the deep end, but the support offered from line management is second to none.

I did an international-focused degree, so my interest in travel, other cultures and countries drove me to look for a diverse, multicultural company, with plenty of opportunities to travel and interact with people from varied backgrounds and with different personalities.

Initially, I worked as an Employee Relations analyst, supporting the team with data analysis and ad hoc requests to help with union negotiations. I then moved to work for the Chief Operations Officer for a year, with a wide-ranging brief covering both strategic business and operational projects, interacting with people across the company to get things done! I am currently working in Operations Control, again with a couple of significant projects to manage, as well as day to day operational analysis and an emphasis on driving improvement and efficiency in the way we work. easyJet is big on developing you “on-the-job”. There is an element of throwing you in at the deep end, but the support offered from line management is second to none.

easyJet focusses on developing a “go-getting” personality, and new graduates will have to be driven and resolute every day, as the fast moving pace of the business takes no prisoners! I look at myself two years ago, and think of how far I’ve come in terms of self-confidence, commercial awareness, presentation skills, leadership skills and many other facets, and can’t quite believe how much I’ve learnt and developed. You have to go and get the answers you require, the support you need, and build relationships quickly. You have to manage a range of personalities and approaches from the start, so people skills are a must. It is a lot of fun, but hard work. You are expected to put in 100% every day, and anything less is unacceptable.

easyJet carefully considers your strengths before employing you, as it is important that teams work well together, have common goals and are driven to succeed. Everyone is approachable and supportive, and everyone wants to solve problems together for the greater good of the company. Unlike a lot of companies, easyJet leaves politics and posturing at the door – it is a place that you can largely get things done quickly and well.

Imran

I have enjoyed being given the opportunity to get stuck in and to carve out my career.

The first thing that caught my attention when applying for easyJet was the brand. Being born in Luton, I had an idea of what easyJet was about and knew that it was the best company based in the area if not the country. From the onset I knew that working for such a recognised brand would be great for my development and this was proven once I joined the graduate scheme.

During my final interview, I was asked “where do you see yourself in 5 years?”. I replied ”Business Analyst” and, guess what! I was given a role as a Business Analyst from day one. I am currently in my fourth placement within IT Flight Operations working on a programme looking at simplifying our Flight Operation by introducing innovative solutions such as mobile tablets for our Pilots, virtual crew rooms for our Cabin Crew and most excitingly inflight Wi-Fi for both operational and commercial use.

My first placement was in Central Systems where, as part of a small team of three, I helped to analyse, configure and release the recruitment website - that’s right, the website you’re going to use to apply for the graduate scheme.

My second placement was in IT Airport Systems where I joined another small team working on HALO, a mobile boarding solution which won ‘Best Airport Innovation’ at the Future Travel Experience Awards 2012. I was heavily involved in this project and was given the opportunity to travel extensively around our network to get this live. HALO is now used to board around 1000 flights per week!

My third placement was in Commercial Systems where I was given the incredible opportunity to be the business analyst on easyJet’s Mobile App which has won a whole raft of awards. My main focus was on the mobile boarding pass and after a lot of hard work we released it to the public with 5 star reviews and a lot of media coverage.

I have enjoyed being given the opportunity to get stuck in and to carve out my career. You’re expected to perform and are rewarded for this. I love that I feel in control and have been given many opportunities to develop.
